This is a website all about the discovering the hidden heritage of north London's Finsbury Park

Finsbury Park Stories aims to bring together existing material about Finsbury Park’s fascinating history into one place, as well as uncover more hidden aspects of the park’s heritage. Here you’ll find information, photos and ephemera from places like local and regional archives, history books, newspapers and journals, alongside material from people’s own collections and stories from people’s own mouths.

You can explore the website using the GoogleMap on the homepage - or click through to the Hi(stories) section to delve into the park’s history, look through archival material, watch documentary films, listen to some of the sounds you’ll hear in the park and find out about people’s stories of the park in times gone by.

While the site of Finsbury Park has seen significant change over its 250 year history of entertaining Londoners, it’s always been a place for the people. And that’s where much of the information on this website comes from - from people. Not just from newspaper cuttings and old photographs, but from people’s memories and recollections of the park over the years. Often this is where the most interesting information can be found – it’s also the easiest information to lose, so it’s important to collect it while we can!

Begun in 2013 by local resident Jamie Bamber as part of an MA degree, the website is not intended as a finished product, but an ongoing project - so, if you have any old photographs or artefacts that could be digitised and shared on the website, or if you have any stories about the park’s history, please get in touch!
